it's not too late for holiday cards | sandy | richmond, va family portrait photographer

I'll admit, Sandy had me a bit worried. Not because I thought she would knock out our power, make one of the trees in our backyard fall on our house, or cause Richmond to flood.

I was worried that she would rip all the pretty fall leaves off the trees.

Fall is in full effect here in Richmond, VA and I am loving it!
The trees are full of leaves that have turned amazing colors and that, my friends, makes for great photos. Sometimes, when I am out shooting fall portraits, I secretly wish that I had a fall wedding. I know that may sound crazy to some of you that have had to peel me off the beach in the summer, but I mean come on, fall is beautiful in Richmond.

It's not too late to get your family portraits done, cards printed, and sent by the holidays.

Our Guarantee:
Have your photos taken in November and we will make sure that you have your christmas, hanukkah, kwanza, or any other holiday cards sent out by the holidays.
[just ask if you want more details, but it really is as simple as that]

New options for 2012:
custom designed cards for every family
addressing, stamping and mailing your cards

It is safe to say that Sandy did not cause too much damage to our area, however, as you know, many others were not as lucky.

I want to help them.

I am looking for 2-3 engaged couples that were affected by Hurricane/Superstorm/Frankenstorm Sandy. If you know of anyone located along the east coast that fits these qualifications,

colin & brennan | richmond, va family portrait photographer

A few weeks ago I met up with one of my favorite Richmond families for our annual photo shoot. You guys may remember Colin and Brennan from our session at Maymont last fall, but this year, we decided to meet near Brown's Island. It was a gorgeous fall day, we had a great time, and I think it shows in the photos.

ashley & steve [engaged]

I'm baaaack! Things have been kind of crazy around here for the past month or so. I was on "work-ation" for almost two weeks and I am in the middle of what we will call my "career adjustment phase". That is another story for another day though. Moving on...

A few weeks ago, right before I left for my "work-ation" we travelled down to Raleigh to shoot Ashley & Steve's engagement photos. Ashley chose the Raleigh Rose Gardens as the location for their photos and there were lots of great places to grab some shots, the steps were my favorite!

Ashley & Steve will tie the knot in October and I am looking forward to being back in North Carolina again, part of me just feels at home when I am there.

Insta-Friday [#2]

I'm linking up again with Jeannett to share my week in Instagram photos. You are getting double in this post though because I missed last week. So, here we go. . .

I ordered some prints to frame for a wall in my office. I was amazed by how quick my order arrived. I use mpix to print images for my clients as well as my personal photos. They rock. The end.

Yellow tulips are some of my favorites

Artwork from one of my favorite 3 year olds

FINALLY!!! A dunkin' donuts in short pump! And a drive-thru nonetheless.
I like starbucks, but I would pick my dd iced coffee over that fanciness ANYDAY.

That surprise storm that rolled through central virginia on Monday hit our area hard.
This tree fell down [and took a couple power/cable lines with it] right down the street from our house.
We were without power, tv and internet for a few days but we are back up and running now.

The fridge needed a good clean-out anyway.

Day 2. No progress on the whole tree-removal thing.

I ordered a new camera last week!!!
I timed it perfectly so that it would arrive before we leave for the beach this weekend.
I got a little worried that the large "road closed" sign at the end of our street would interfere with my plans, but this box arrived right on time! Thanks Adorama!

I got treated to a pedicure on wednesday.
I have since taken most of the polish off of my skin, but I am still rocking the pink on the left, blue on the right look.

And the flip flop tan.

Insta-Friday

I have been noticing more and more link-up posts/parties on some of the blogs I follow and I think I kind of like it. I have been following Lindsey over at The Pleated Poppy for a while now [she's a home-schooling mom of 3 who throws the most creative parties AND started her own at-home business as kind of an accident, you should check her out, she is pretty amazing] and she links up with Life Rearranged for InstaFriday.

I'm new to the whole InstaGram thing, but I figured why not jump right in and link up with them too. Its a way to share the iPhone pics that I have taken throughout the week and give you a little idea of what I have been up to. Of course, you could just follow me on InstaGram or Twitter [@stephfoxphoto] and see my photos there without having to wait til the end of the week. Hopefully, this will also get me back into blogging more often. I have lots of ideas for posts, just need to sit down and start typing.

So, here we go with some of my photos from this past week...

Last Sunday at the Richmond Squirrels game

At work this week, I put together another plasma car. I think this brings my total to 4, I don't even need to look at the instructions anymore. I seriously recommend this toy to anyone with young children, or to anyone who buys gifts for young children. It is amazingly fun [for kids and adults!]

On Saturday, I surprised Josh, I tried to surprise Josh for our anniversary.
I planned a day trip to Yorktown and Williamsburg. Driving into Yorktown, it is just a wide open road with no painted lines or anything like that. In most parts, you can pass in the middle lane area.
Crazy.

We had crab cakes for lunch at a restaurant on the beach in Yorktown and then took a walk down the beach. We came across a wedding being set-up and I couldn't help myself.

Josh was able to get most of the details out of me before we even got in the car, but I was able to keep one thing a surprise. We went for a brewery tour at Williamsburg AleWerks which ended with a tasting of about 8 beers. I'm not usually a fan of darker beers but the darker beers at Ale Werks were coffee flavored, so of course I enjoyed them.

Yesterday we continued the house painting project and finished the last two bathrooms on our list.
