the D family | richmond, va family photographer

this year, I decided to donate a few portrait packages to some richmond elementary schools. a lot of them do silent auctions, usually put together by the PTA, and i thought it would be a fun way to give back to the community.

karen was the first of the auction winners to contact me and we met last weekend for their session. we had emailed back and forth about selecting a location for their photo session that had special meaning to her family, and finally decided on Maymont, the place where her and greg were married ten years ago. this shot was taken at the exact spot where they had their wedding ceremony.

we spent an hour or so walking around the park. it was a busy saturday and there were lots of other people at Maymont, but thankfully these guys were troopers as we searched for empty areas and waited for clear backgrounds.

caroline had lots of ideas when it came to poses and finding locations.
don't be surprised if you see her again in a few years as my assistant :)

love this.

jenny's boyfriend, jd also tagged along, and while he was the perfect sunglass holder,
he also got a turn in front of the camera.

karen, greg, caroline, jenny and jd-
i had a great time with you guys. thanks for being 'that family' in the park and dodging
prom couples with me. looking forward to next time!

instagram photo-a-day | month 2 | richmond, va wedding photographer

here's a behind the scenes look at my february...

another step in the living room makeover checked off the list.
picking up our coffee table.
[if you are in the market for furniture, do your research online. we originally saw our coffee table at Ashley Furniture, then we googled it and found it for less than half of what Ashley wanted for it. The guys at Ashley ended up matching the online price [which needed to be assembled] so we ordered it from them. win-win.]

we go to the short pump location, but i've heard the one on huguenot is also great!

i tried this recipe from pinterest and while i liked the whole concept of the rolled up lasagna, the taste just wasn't there. i may try it again with more traditional lasagna ingredients.
